So I’m watching a little TLC with the wife and daughter.

Spent an interesting hour watching “Hoarding: Buried Alive”.

If you’ve never seen it, just imagine the following:

Negative emotions, begets…

Compulsive behaviour, begets…

Hanging on to things that don’t serve you, begets…

HOARDING.

Now, please hear my - I’m not knocking the people on the show.

I can’t even imagine what it’s like to live with the type of emotional barriers these people have.

But what I can imagine is how we tend to do this in our own lives.

How I do it in my own life.

Not with 60 bottles of shampoo or 34 bags of dirty socks…

instead, by watching this crazy show with seemingly crazy people, I’ve discovered one unique thing:

We’re All A Bit Crazy…
…Especially When We Fail To
Rid Ourselves Of Negative Thoughts

Think about the self-limiting beliefs you have.

On a daily basis.

The ones that don’t serve you.

Don’t serve any purpose at all.

“I’ll never be able to do THAT…”

“My mom/dad/uncle/teacher was right, I CAN’T…”

“He/She/They will never like me…love me…”

“They could, but we could never…”

“I’m not worthy…”

“I’m incapable….”

There’s so many of these damned thoughts, if they were Jeopardy categories we’d make Alex’s head spin.

“I’ll take ‘Total BS’ for $1200 please…”

No.

Not today.

It’s time to stop hoarding the thoughts in our minds that trap us.

Thoughts that surround us and make life impossible to live.

It’s time to MAKE the CHOICE that will FREE US from bondage.

Because as tough as life is, we still have the ability to choose.

“I am convinced that life is
10% what happens to me
and 90% how I react to it.”
-Charles Swindoll

It’s time to clean up the mess in our head…

I’m making a list of thoughts I don’t want to live with anymore, and I’d invite you to do the same.

I’m burning mine in the firepit out back. (And smoking a cigar while I’m at it)

What about you?

Gotta love the guy - Always has good things to say.

If you’re not following him already, show some twitter love and follow Matt today to increase your marketing accumen.

Anyways, he posted a great link to social media expert Cindy King’s article on 12 Tips to Engage People on Twitter.

I’ve got to say, this stuff transfers over to more than just Twitter…

If you’re into social media marketing (as you should be if you’re at all serious about surviving in the new economy) then many of these tactics will apply to your Facebook profiles and FanPages, creating viral videos and campaigns, and connecting and building relationships with your followers/clients/customers.

“Relationship” is at the heart of everything that *is* social media marketing.

The more you build relationship and develop trust, the more successful your marketing will be.

Thanks again Cindy for writing this great piece, and thanks to Matt for sharing it with the world!

Bloomberg Business Week did an interesting study of how really rich people spend really big amounts of money on really expensive things.

And I mean REALLY expensive…

-$1.2 BILLION on a megayacht…

-$2.97 MILLION for a gold iPhone…

-$35,000 for a bottle of Champagne… (Granted it’s from a ship wreck)

And my personal fav…

-$1150 on a Gurkha Black Dragon cigar….or you can spend $115,000 for the box of 100

(Hey, it comes with a carved camel bone & brass box!)

If you’ve got five minutes and want to expand your paradigms of what’s possible, click on the Bloomberg Business Week article here. and see some pretty amazing possibilities.

Or if you’re happy with your current paradigms, but just want to see what other crazy-rich people do with seemingly unfathomable sums of money, I guess that’s cool too.

Okay,

So if you’re in ANY kind of business that sells or markets a product/service/widget/etc….

(Which, by the way, is ANY business)

And you HAVEN’T heard of John Carlton….

You’re missing out big time.

Just like this post’s title says, there are two types of people:

1) Those who HAVE read up/studied/learned from John Carlton

And... (You guessed it)

2) Those who don’t realize they need to read up/study/learn from John Carlton…YET

I was in group number two, until last week that is.

John’s offering up his Simple Writing System home-study course for a STUPID low price.

And I’ve been logging onto UPS’s tracking system every day to know if I’ll be getting it in the mail sooner.

A bit anxious and childish, yes, I know that.

But if you know me, you would know that I’m prone to such behaviour at least 3 times per week…

So what’s the point of me telling you all of this?

Will I make a fortune promoting John’s SWS Home Study Course via a cleverly disguised affiliate link?

NO.

It’s just that, when it comes to copywriting and marketing, he kicks so much tail that you’d be dumb as a stupid-stick with a frontal lobotomy to not want to take a look at ANYTHING the man offers.

Here, see for yourself the very post on his blog that inspired me to share his wisdom with you…

There Are 2 Kinds Of People In The World…. <-Article on John Carlton’s blog

If the link doesn’t work, just type in www (dot) John - Carlton (dot) com and don’t forget the almighty hyphen.

And if you are so inclined to order his Simple Writing System home study course, do it soon before he takes his offer down.

http://www.simplewritingsystem.com/

(And don’t forget, I get nothing for promoting this. He’s just taught so many pros and multi-millionaire entrepreneurs his secrets that you’d be crazy not to get jiggy. That’s right. I said jiggy.)

Last week I had such a day.

Warm sun (for ONCE in Edmonton!)

Clear skies.

And the fluffy cloud I was riding plopped me down gently onto this article.

Still no clue how I found it, but it’s quite an interesting narrative about our priorities in life and the things we chase after and spend our time on.

It’s from a Hasidic Jewish perspective, but don’t worry if you don’t know your Kibbutz from Chabad. Neither do I, so we’re really in the same boat.

Hope this article leaves you feeling richer and wiser.

Not only that, but I love that someone else in the world knows about Moleskine notebooks.

I’ve been using them for the last half-decade to record thoughts, notes with clients, quotes, and random ideas.

And although I’ve begun using a heftier notebook for my journal, I still use Moleskines like nobody’s business.

Bottom Line: They’re great
